Information relevant to a field of enquiry in Public Administration is gathered.
Mastery of the skills needed to critically assess scientific literature is displayed.
Identify, assess and manage the ethical implications of a research project within the regulatory framework of the field of Public Administration.
Conduct research into an aspect of public service
Scientific results are organised and presented orally and in writing in a professional manner.
Quantitative methods and techniques are applied to evaluate management activities and functions.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:
Legislative and ethical frameworks are applied to organisational challenges in public sector organisations.
The implications and consequences of failing to adhere to ethical principles and values within the public service as a professional are understood.
An ethical leadership framework for the public sector which takes into account complex organisation or professional issues, competing imperatives and the critical development of ethical standards in the context of the public service is developed.
Models that could assist in effecting good governance and building integrity in the South African public sector are analysed.
Integrated Assessment:
Formative and Summative Assessments
Regular feedback would be provided to learners on work submitted (i.e. research proposal, individual chapters, first and second drafts and seminar presentation). Internal and external moderation: All dissertations would be internally examined by two supervisors’/co-supervisors’ and externally moderated by two external examiners.
The research dissertation would be examined internally and externally on final submission by the learner.
