An understanding of business in terms of types of businesses, objectives, stakeholders, change in business and growth is understood.

Human resources management in a business environment with regards to recruitment, selection, employee relations, the law and the workplace as well as training and development is developed and understood.

Formative and summative assessment:
Summative Assessment:
Summative assessment (or Summative evaluation) refers to the assessment of the learning and summarises the development of learners at a particular time. After a period of work, e.g. a unit for two weeks, the learner sits for a test and then the teacher marks the test and assigns a score. Summative assessment tests the learner’s ability to manage and integrate a large body of knowledge to achieve the stated outcomes of the qualification.
Formative Assessment:
Formative assessment is a self-reflective process that intends to promote learner attainment. Assessment during the year will consist of a combination of assignments (including activities such as essays, concept maps, paragraph questions, closed tests, multiple choice questions, portfolios, self-assessment tasks in the study guides or calculations) to be submitted to and assessed by the lecturers.
