According to competencies in fundamental, core and elective learning, exit level outcomes are grouped into four components. Assessment of these collectively reflects the competency of the learner. Assessment is conducted continuously by formative and summative tasks. Learners are provided with assignment tasks, peer evaluation tasks and other methods of assessment. They also receive an Assessment report, a Study Evaluation and Personal Reflection questionnaire. Their responses are assessed against an Assessment Schedule and Marking Guide. The pass grade is 70%.
Integrated Assessment:
For the award of this qualification, a learner must achieve each subject identified in fundamental, core as well as stream core and elective.
Assessment covers both formative and summative tasks. Learners must also demonstrate the ability to apply theory to practice. Evidence is required that the learner is able to achieve the purpose of the qualification as a whole at the time of the award of the qualification.
Each programme stream is an integrated whole and complete in itself with the fundamental, core, stream core and elective subjects.
By integrating foundational elements such as Study Skills and Systematic Theology into Pastoral and Missiology studies, Biblical Studies, Christian Education and Theology, Hebron has developed a programme that effectively functions as a stand-alone training programme for Christian Lay Ministries and as a teacher`s assistant in Christian education. The same programme also serves very well to provide a basis for further study required by those who desire to apply for ordination.
The assessment strategy as a whole provides for evidence that must be demonstrated through a variety of options such as knowledge, skills, application, attitude and values, both formative and summative.
Assessment tasks include:
Written assignments
Personal testimony
Presentation of completed Bible Studies
Essays for short answer questions
Presentations for peer evaluation
