Assessment will take place in terms of the degree or level of his/her conceptual understanding, and the student’s mastering of the following concepts and ability to initiate them:
1. critical thinking in respect of general reproductive problems;
2. be able to evaluate and categorize relevant scientific publications;
3. demonstrate specific scientific skills;
4. be able to identify relevant problem areas in a laboratory context, and to remedy the problems;
5. address moral and ethical questions and matters in relation to reproduction problems and solutions, and have a well-balanced opinion in such matters;be able to communicate as one of a group of researchers, but also as an individual about scientific, ethical and technical matters.
Integrated assessment
The students will be thoroughly assessed by means of:
1. Five scientific seminars, and the oral presentation thereof, on prescribed subjects dealing with the discipline discussed during the previous session (these have to be completed during the two year period). Each of these five seminars counts one tenth of the final year mark which in turn counts 50% of the final performance mark;
2. A publishable scientific article on a research project they have to complete within the two year period, which will contribute 50% to the final year mark;An examination at the end of each of the two years of study, each counting 25% of the final performance mark. The final year mark and examinations will therefore each contribute 50% to the final performance mark.
