2.4. Other sectors having an influence on health are correctly identified.
* The need for and principles of intersectoral collaboration are identified and explained in the appropriate context.
2.5. Factors influencing policy and affecting the structure and functioning of community health services are identified.

2.6. Initiates of or participates in a project based on the principles of community development and empowerment.

3.1. A knowledge of and correct use of relevant community resources is demonstrated e.g. as required within a case study of an individual or family.

3.2. Health data on individuals, families and aggregate groups is collated and interpreted to enable the planning for optimal health.

3.3. Health care is managed within the framework of the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention and will include the following areas:

Prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases of public health significance

Rehabilitation services

* Implements interventions and appropriate referrals aimed at helping clients clarify problems, deal with crisis and make informed decisions and choices.

3.5. Nursing interventions demonstrate an understanding and an appreciation of the psychosocial, cultural and spiritual variables influencing health care within the local South African context.

4.1. Identification of research needs and opportunities demonstrate an understanding of the current health status of the community.
* Demonstrates the ability to access and utilise information appropriately e.g. library facilities, Internet etc.
* The basic elements of the research process are identified.
* A mini-epidemiological study based on a community profile is drafted in respect of an identifiable sector of the community.
* A comprehensive family study in respect of a family in the community is undertaken.

4.2 Ethical principles applicable to nursing research are identified and applied where appropriate.

5.1. Community health service data is summarised and critically analysed.
* A health service is planned, using appropriate management principles.

5.3. Participates in decision-making regarding the acquisition and use of health resources.
* Prepares a simple budget.
* Facilitates interdisciplinary teamwork to provide optimal health programmes and services.
* Collaborates with a variety of health care providers and relevant persons from the multi-sectoral environment to develop a community health service.

5.4. Factors influencing policy and affecting the structure and functioning of community health services are identified.

5.5. Provides evidence of networking within specified context e.g. attendance at a meeting e.g. relevant nursing society;

5.6. Demonstrate evidence of professional development and responsibility.
