A learner should provide evidence of learning competency (knowledge, skills and attitude) by means of the following:
1. Comprehensive nursing care plans written according to set standards and incorporating assessment and problem solving steps.
2. Research project conducted in accordance with prescribed research requirements.
3. Community collaboration projects according to prescribed community and professional guidelines.
4. Documents compiled according to legal requirements.
5. Emergency-care procedures written to international standards.
6. Management procedures executed in managing a nursing unit.
7. Policies formulated according to and evaluated against the requirements of the SA constitution.
Integrated assessment:
Competence is achieved, through continuous assessment by demonstrating the ability to achieve the outcomes of the Qualification.
Continuous integrated assessment by self, peers and facilitators by way of project presentations, case management reports, discussion, journal writing, simulations, portfolios, clinical workbooks and checklists.
Standardised marking of and feedback on assignments, projects tests and examinations.
Written and oral test and examinations moderated by qualified academics.
Clinical competency tests.
Work-place assessments and practical.
Objective Structured Clinical Examinations in simulation and clinical practice (OSCE).
Objective Structured Physical Examinations in simulation and clinical practice (OSPE).
This will be supported by a module credit system, followed by a final exam on the modules for which credit was not obtained
Assessment documents are moderated to ensure that:
They conform to the scope and context of the competency as stipulated in the qualification
They are constructed in such a way that the Assessor assesses the critical outcomes applied, during the Learners activity performances, towards achieving an outcome.
Assessments are:
To include confirmation of the Embedded Knowledge component to ensure that the Foundational Competency is achieved.
To be verified by Internal Verifiers to ensure valid, credible, true and fair results.
