A learner should provide evidence of learning competency (knowledge, skills and attitude) by means of the following:
1. Nursing care plans
Written to comply with set professional standards.
2. Ward rounds
Conducted in context of a specialised field of their choice to comply with set standards.
3. Mini research projects
Completed to set research requirements.
4. Clinical skills test and ward rounds comply with professional checklist
INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT
Competence is achieved, through continuous assessment by demonstrating the ability to achieve the outcomes of the Qualification:
Class tests;
Projects and group work projects
Case presentations and studies;
Class conference; and
Clinical skills tests and ward rounds
Summative evaluation: All modules are summatively evaluated by a formal examination that includes practical nursing.
Recognition of prior learning
Portfolio submission; and/or
Tests and/or
Examinations; and/or
Clinical skills tests; and/or
Objective structured clinical evaluation.
This will be supported by a module credit system, followed by a final exam on the modules for which credit was not obtained.
Assessment documents are moderated to ensure that:
They conform to the scope and contexts of the competency as stipulated in the qualification.
They are constructed in such a way that the Assessor assesses the critical outcomes applied, during the Learners activity performance, towards achieving an outcome.
Assessments are:
To include confirmation of the Embedded Knowledge component to ensure that the Foundational Competency is achieved.
To be verified be Internal Verifiers to ensure valid, credible, true and fair results.
