The student has demonstrated within a real practice situation, the skills and knowledge of a competent nurse at the level of a specialist, rather than a generalist, as listed:
1. identification of practice problems, accessing of information and problem-solving
2. effectively communicating with colleagues in each instance
3. placing practice, practice trends and problems in historical, philosophical contact
4. building and maintaining partnerships with different stake-holders
5. practicing ethically
6. demonstrating specialist knowledge and skills in all four basic areas of nursing in different health care settings.
7. demonstrating generalist knowledge and skills in all four basis areas of nursing in different health care settings
8. planning and implementing practice based research.
Integrated assessment appropriately incorporated to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved:
Clinical supervision gives the opportunity for formative integrative assessments of knowledge, skills (cognitive and personal) and attitudes. Many of the student projects are practice-based tasks, which are integrative and authentic. Summative evaluation in each module includes clinical assessment, which represents evaluation of integrated competency in an authentic work setting, for instance:
Organising an open day for the community (Nursing Management)
Implementation of a Mental Health Programme (Adv. Mental Health)
A community assessment and diagnosis (Community Health)
