    PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

    This unit standard is intended:

    ·  To demonstrate proficient of knowledge of the areas covered

    ·  For those working in, or entering the workplace in the area of Information Technology

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

    ·  Select an appropriate test procedure for the networked IT systems to be tested

    ·  Prepare the testing to ensure the given specifications will be addressed

    ·  Apply the test procedure to the IT Systems to be tested

    ·  Collect and record data from testing the networked IT systems
The performance of all elements is to a standard that allows for further learning in this area.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

The credit value of this unit is based on a person having the prior knowledge and skills to:

    ·  Understand how to test a stand alone IT system against given specifications

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE

Networked IT systems refers to a combination of workstations on a network, including a server workstation. It could also refer to combinations of programs with interfaces to other components being tested, making it more complex than just unit testing.

    Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria:

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1

Select an appropriate test procedure for the networked IT systems to be tested.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1

    1. The selection clarifies the purpose of the test and the data required from it.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2

    2. The selection identifies any factors that may affect the choice of the test procedure.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3

    3. The selection identifies the resources available for the test procedure.

Specific Outcomes (Practical Competency, Skills) (SO)

Implies the ability to apply acquired knowledge practically in the workplace to achieve a related task. An observation checklist relating to the set assessment criteria are used to assess the learner’s achievement of the specific outcomes.

    Assessment Criteria (AC)

The criteria against which the achievement of the specific outcomes of a unit standard are measured. Assessment criteria are normally set for specific outcomes only, with essential embedded knowledge implied in the assessment criteria.
