This unit standard will be useful to learners who need a sound foundation of spoken/signed language ability for further language growth, and for application in real life contexts. Learners talk/sign confidently in both formal and informal contexts and /sign actively for ideas and information in interactions with other people. They are aware of the ways others speak/sign to influence listeners and audiences. In conveying their ideas and information they select language and a register that is accessible to their audience and fit for their purpose.

The qualifying learner achieving this unit standard in combination with context expertise standard(s) will be able to explain different sanitation systems and the relation between sanitation and water quality management. This competence will enable the learner to explain appropriate sanitation options to community members including the advantages and disadvantages of each option. This will enable the community to make informed decisions on sanitation and hygiene issues, which will benefit all community members. Achieving this unit standard will provide foundational learning that will advance his / her own expertise and employability in the water and other related sectors.

Providing advice on compliance with legislation and regulations which regulate business in general and the department/division in particular.
Identifying areas of non-compliance with legislation.
Take appropriate corrective actions.
