PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners credited with this unit standard are able to write/sign to suit a range of contexts. They use complex sentence structures and show/register some control of style and register. Writers/signers can match the choice of text type, structure, tone/sign size and pace and word/sign selection in their writing/signing to the needs of specific audiences. They express themselves reasonably clearly and precisely when writing/signing, and they are willing to explore new forms of writing in thoughtful and organised ways.Learners at this level also use appropriate language/signing in familiar and unfamiliar situations in their writings/signed narratives and in their written/signed observations and responses based on texts they encounter. They use language appropriate to the socio-cultural, learning or workplace/technical environment as required.

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
The qualifying learner achieving this unit standard in combination with context expertise standard(s) will be able to operate a Rotating Biodisc Contactor (RBC) process in accordance with legislation and work policies and procedures to ensure a good quality effluent. This competence will equip the qualifying learner with an enhanced skills base thereby improving the qualifying learner`s motivation, employability in the water sector and contribute towards the smooth running of the wastewater works. This competence will contribute towards the sustainability of the water system for all communities.
