PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

The purpose of this Unit Standard is to orientate learners with regard to the plight of victims of crime and human rights abuses in the field of Victim Empowerment.

Learners accredited with this Unit Standard will be capable of:

• Defining Victim Empowerment and explain different types of victims and categories of victimisation.
• Describing the nature of Victim Empowerment in South Africa and the reasons for its emergence.
• Identifying and explaining the needs and rights of victims in South African communities
• Identifying and explaining available Victim Empowerment services to communities.
