recognize when patient rights are being or are in danger of being violated by others
recognize when referral to the registered nurse or other members of the health team is indicated in order to protect patient rights

Qualifying learners will be able to :
demonstrate an awareness of the rights of employers, employees as well as users of health and nursing services
identify health and safety issues (problems or potential problems) in their area of work
demonstrate knowledge and understanding of reporting channels regarding health and safety issues
demonstrate an understanding of practices designed to maintain their safety as well as the safety of patients, colleagues and co-workers
demonstrate an understanding of the role and function of the health and safety team as well as of each member of staff in maintaining health and safety standards
demonstrate an awareness of Labour Legislation as it affects them as well as correct channels of communication
Assessment criteria:
The specific learning outcomes as indicated in each of the Exit level outcomes above are the criteria (performance indicators), which will be used when assessing learner performance. On completion of the course, learners should demonstrate achievement of the stated outcomes and thereby achievement of core competencies. Formative, summative and terminal comprehensive assessments, which include assessment of specific procedures, will be conducted.
