The standard of work the learner will be producing in the course of the study will be used to assess the learner’s ability to conduct further research after obtaining this qualification.
Seminar presentations and presentations to the learner’s internal supervisors will be used to assess this capacity.
How the learner will respond to problems he/she may encounter in the course of the study will be used to assess the learner’s ability to appropriately respond to problems in his/her field of work.
Integrated Assessment:
Procedures to ensure that the purpose of qualification is achieved:
Formatively, the learner’s research proposal will have to be considered and approved by the Faculty Research Committee; after which the proposal will have to be submitted to the Faculty Board and the Senate for final approval;
The internal supervisor will then have to continually monitor the work of the learner during the course of the study.
Summatively, the completed work (dissertation) will be subjected to the scrutiny of two externally appointed examiners.
