SPECIFIC ASSESSMENTS:
Select and use calligraphy equipment
1. Be familiar with a calligraphy dip pen, how to assemble and use it and how to hold it at the correct angles as well as being able to correct faults.
2. Have a general knowledge of the history of calligraphy and particularly of the styles learnt as well as some knowledge of how modern calligraphy is used.
3. Write in at least two calligraphic styles
4. Be able to draw decorative capitals and how to use them all together in projects
5. Have a good knowledge of the letterforms of the styles taught, and how they are constructed.
6. Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of spacing, letter spacing, word spacing and line spacing
7. Be familiar with the use of different sizes of script used together
8. Be able to use various forms of layout and be able to plan margins
9. Have some knowledge of the use of colour
10. Be able to complete projects and commissions and how to cost them
11. Be able to present their work
