1. The learners will be assessed to provide evidence that they can analyse and resolve criminal justice problems based on basic appropriate and relevant knowledge.
2. They will be assessed to provide evidence that they can work and interact with the different role-players in the criminal justice process.
3. The learners will be assessed by their assignments, fieldwork and exercises to demonstrate that they can organise and manage their studies effectively when taking responsibility for investigations, can make independent conclusions based on the law or evidence and can reflect on their competencies.
4. They will be assessed to prove that they can conduct basic research.
5. The learners will have to demonstrate their effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
6. They will have to demonstrate the effective utilisation of computers and the internet.
7. The will have to display, by solving real-life crime-scenarios, an understanding of the place and the role of the law in society.
8. The learners will be assessed to determine whether they can explore, apply and understand the general principles of the different law subjects and basic auditing.
9. They will have to display an understanding of the role of the criminal justice system in the developing of people.
10. The learners need to display an awareness and sensitivity for societal realities.
11. They will have to display an awareness as to how the qualification can be utilised to access employment and career opportunities.
12. The learners will be assessed that they have entrepreneurial skills, which enable them to set up their own sustainable businesses.
Integrated assessment appropriately incorporated to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved:
Assessment seeks to evaluate learner performance in order to determine whether learners comply with assessment criteria; and encourage and guide the improvement of learner performance. Assessment is based on the principle of continuous and regular assessment and complete and prompt feedback.
As the qualification is especially designed to enhance and improve the knowledge and skills previously gained, learners are also assessed on their ability to apply their knowledge of criminal justice and investigation techniques to sets of facts that demand for their solution an integration of the rules and principles of criminal law and law of procedure.
Formative assessment practices that will be implemented:
Formative assessment is aimed at the development of a life-long learning culture based on continuous self-study. Formative assessment is conducted by means of continuous self-assessment, assignments of various kinds. Discussion of assignments and other forms of feedback are an integral and critical part of assessment.
Summative assessment practices that will be implemented:
Summative assessment consists of a written examination.
